project * custom painted stripes

Last week I had the pleasure of teaming up with designer Darlene Paradis (pictured left), the mastermind behind At Home Interior Design.

Our project?

To create a series of stripes using 4 paint colours, running across 2 walls in a 4 yr old boys bedroom.

Darlene’s colour palette ties together so many of the elements in this space, such a great way to layer in pattern. The base coat is painted in a simple neutral, Benjamin Moore’s HC-81 Manchester Tan.

It’s finally colourful outside!

This time of year is so fresh and beautiful, with more sunshine and buds of plants growing at a miraculous rate into leaves and flowers. It’s hard not to be inspired by the colours all around us.

We are sharing our fav 10 colours for spring this year and would love to hear what yours are too!

a girls bedroom transformed to a baby boy nursery

Baby Thomas is a newborn, who’s small bedroom space is a hammy down from his older sister.

Spaces Design chose the paint colours for this room a few years ago, for Thomas’ big sister.

We are going to help Mommy and Daddy make this transition easier and use the existing bands of colour, changing them to a little boy palette. To create some functional design elements in the space, we created a style board full of suggestions from rugs to night lights.

This little shoe from Snuggle Bugz was our jumping off point for the colour sheme. Such an easy colour combination for a boys room.

flat-pack *a house on wheels

These renderings are as matter-of-fact as the design: a no-nonsense, use-all-spaces approach to mobile and quickly-deployed housing

The non-directional configuration contains all of the basics centered around a core volume of space – supplementary wings on either side and raised decks front and back.

Adjustable metal legs support the primarily wood-and-glass frame structure, adaptable to different ground conditions when the wheels are raised.

Solar panels are a clearly dominant feature, providing full energy self sufficiency as well as shade and shelter for the outdoor areas.

Lauren Conrad * new cali home

“Your home is the primary place where you live, eat, learn, love and grow,” said lifestyle blogger Lauren Conrad. “Not only should your decor reflect your personality and taste, it should present you with a space that is stylish and comfortable as well.”

She has left The Hills in more ways than one and moved into a $3.745 million home in L.A.’s Brentwood neighbourhood.

This 54 year old home is 4,303 square feet, including six bedrooms, five bathrooms and has a real Hamptons feel.

“Some of my favorite things in my place are items I’ve snatched up at flea markets and local trinket shops,” Conrad has said of her home furnishings.

The chef’s kitchen features white marble counter tops and stainless steel appliances.

The fashion designer’s new pad was redesigned by Jeff Lewis of Bravo’s Flipping Out.

We love the herringbone patterns of the marble in the shower, and the desi stool is perfect in a shower.

“There’s nothing like putting things in check when you’re feeling a little stressed,” Laurel has said of her clean closet. “For me, giving my living space a quick little organizational refresh is like clearing my head and taking a deep breath.”

Disguincio & Co is an architecture practice based in Pordenone, Italy, focusing on the understanding of the “stratification of matter”, using digital simulation to find new languages able to define design as a tool to discover the horizon of renovated knowledge.

Design studio Disguincio & Co has created the Folio staircase and is working to produce it at full scale. Each piece is individually flexible, but together they form a robust spiral spine. A single form, repeated.

Being modular allows this staircase to vary in height. It can be configured for steps in odd spaces or non-parallel landings, making it all the more adaptable to reuse and addition cases.
